A day at the beach

"Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward."

I had a great day yesterday-my mil, her sister, and her mom and I went to the beach for the whole day.  But the best part was that I didn't have any kids with me.  David said he didn't mind watching the kids so I could get a break and just relax-how sweet.  First we went to Pappasitos for lunch-omg there fajitas are the best, then we drove to the beach.  And let me tell you what I did-absolutely nothing-I brought my mp3 and a good book and just layed on the beach doing that.  It was great, but when we left the house I felt guilty and especially when we got there because I knew Sweet Pea would have had so much fun playing.  So would have the Chunky Monkey but I would have spent the whole time chasing him that it wouldn't have been much fun for anyone.  But really I just needed a day to myself without chasing any kids and just having some time for me.  After awhile we cleaned up and walked on the strand and then at a place called The Spot-umm wasn't really impressed-I would have taken Sonic over it.  And then by the time we got home it was about 10:30 p.m. and everyone was asleep-including David.  Oh and did I mention that the living room was a mess; I'm talking toys everywhere and all the cushions off the couch-nice.  So this morning I asked him how his day went and he said for the most part the kids were ok.  And as you can imagine I've spent the morning cleaning up a bit, but as you can imagine the kids have already made their mess so really what's the point.  Today I'm just going to take it easy because I still feel like I'm in lazy beach mode.

I'm in a lazy beach mood also - too bad I'm 3 hours from one! A week though until vacation!

Oh that sounds like heaven! A beach trip without chasing children everywhere to just relax and read! I would have felt the pangs of guilt as well. Sorry you had to clean up after everything in the morning though.

We had plans for Galveston last weekend and ended up hanging out at the Galleria. The girls had fun at Build a Bear though. We went to see the Astros play last Friday. Pretty eventful with an 18 month old! Glad you had time to rest, sounds so nice.
